Meersbrook, Sheffield, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, England, S8 9GE, United Kingdom
Meersbrook is a suburban district in the south-west of Sheffield, bounded to the west by Nether Edge, to the south by Norton Lees, to the north by Heeley, and to the east by the Meersbrook allotment site (the largest allotment site in Europe). The district is located in the city’s Gleadless Valley ward. The name derives from the Meers Brook, a tributary of the river Sheaf, which means „border brook“ and established the boundary between the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of Northumbria and Mercia in ancient times. Meersbrook has been described as a „magnet for young professionals“ due to its proximity to the city centre and strong independent café, bar, and restaurant culture.
