Huddersfield is a market town in West Yorkshire’s Kirklees area. It is the district’s administrative centre and largest settlement. The town is located in the Pennine foothills. The confluence of the River Holme with the similar-sized Colne to the south of the town centre, which then runs into the Calder in the town’s north eastern outskirts. The town centre features a lot of neoclassical Victorian architecture, such as its railway station, which is a Grade I listed edifice that John Betjeman regarded as „the most exquisite station façade in England“ and earned the Europa Nostra prize for architecture. It is home to three colleges: Greenhead College, Kirklees College, and Huddersfield New College, as well as the University of Huddersfield.
