Crosspool is a 4 km west of the city centre suburb of Sheffield. It is a middle-class residential enclave located on an elevated ridge above the Porter and Rivelin valleys, approximately 200 meters above sea level. Crosspool is located on the A57 (Manchester Road) and is the last suburb before reaching the city limits and open countryside. Crosspool is a relatively new development and, unlike some Sheffield suburbs, has no ancient heritage as a village dating back centuries.
