Bolsterstone, Sheffield, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, England, S36 3ZB, United Kingdom
Bolsterstone is a settlement in South Yorkshire, northwest of Sheffield, and part of the city borough. It is located on the outside of the Peak District National Park. The origin of the name „Bolsterstone“ is unknown; it may be a corruption of the root word „Walder“ (also found in local place names, including a barrow), or may refer to two big stones in the village, which are referred to as the „Bolster Stones“. The village is supposed to have existed during the Anglo-Saxon period. As of 2009, the community is primarily residential; there are no stores, and both schools have closed; the National School building now serves as a village hall. The settlement is traversed by the Peak District Boundary Walk. Clem, Rowland, and Rockley Wilson, three first-class cricketers, were born in Bolsterstone.
