Intake, Sheffield, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, England, S12 2AW, United Kingdom
Intake is a former village and suburb located 8 kilometres south-east of Sheffield city centre. Due to growth in the twentieth century, the community became a part of Sheffield. Birley Moor Road connects Intake to Frecheville, and Hollinsend Road connects Intake to Gleadless. Prior to the nineteenth century, the region was mostly agricultural. The Shire Brook, which runs across the south-east, used to form the border between Derbyshire and Yorkshire. However, many collieries were established in the area during the twentieth century, with coal mining being the primary source of employment.
