Dronfield is a town in North East Derbyshire that incorporates the communities of Dronfield Woodhouse and Coal Aston. It is located between Chesterfield and Sheffield in the Drone Valley. The Peak District National Park is 4.8 kilometres away. The name derives from the Old English Dranfleld, which most likely refers to an open field swarming with drone bees. The town predates the 1086 Domesday Book and features a parish church from the 13th century. The town’s industrial history includes coal mining, the wool trade, soap and steel production, and engineering. Today, the town is still home to a number of manufacturing companies. The stadium to the north of town is officially known as „The Home of Football“, and it serves as the home ground for Sheffield F.C., the world’s oldest football club.
