Stocksbridge, Sheffield, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, England, S36 2AB, United Kingdom
Stocksbridge is a town and civil parish in the Sheffield City Council area. The town is located below the Underbank Reservoir in the steep-sided valley of the Little Don River. Deepcar, Bolsterstone, and the eastern end of Ewden valley around Ewden village are all included in the civil parish. Until the early 18th century, what is now Stocksbridge was a densely forested valley stretching from Midhopestones in the north-western end to Deepcar in the south. The valley was traversed by a river, originally dubbed the Hunshelf Water and afterwards renamed the Little Don. Today, the valley bottom is almost entirely filled by steel mills.
