Malin Bridge is a tiny district centred around the river Loxley road bridge that connects the B6076 road to Stannington; it is flanked by the suburbs of Hillsborough, Wisewood, Walkley, and Stannington. The name Malin Bridge has an enigmatic origin, with various probable interpretations proposed. The modern Malin Bridge is centred on a busy road junction that consists of a one-way traffic circle with several highways branching off. The one-way system is surrounded by many small shops; the main retail establishment in the region is Towsure, a major outdoor equipment warehouse on Holme Lane.
