Dore is a major village in the English county of South Yorkshire. Sheffield was named from the river Sheaf, which runs through the village. Christ Church Dore was completed in 1828, and the parish of Dore was established in 1844. Dore remained a small community, with a population of only 500 in the nineteenth century, until it was incorporated into Sheffield in 1934. Dore and Totley railway station is on the Hope Valley Line, which connects Sheffield and Manchester via New Mills Central. In general, services run every hour in both directions. Just north of the area is Abbeydale Park, a former county cricket ground for both Derbyshire and Yorkshire.
