Stannington Map

Stannington, Bradfield, Sheffield, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, England, S6 6AE, United Kingdom

Stannington is located on the western outskirts of Sheffield, on a hill between the rivers Rivelin and Loxley. Tablets discovered on the Stannington side of the Rivelin Valley show evidence of Roman presence of the area. The Stannington area, along with the neighbouring Loxley Valley, became a significant producer of refractory bricks for the booming Sheffield steel industry in the early 1800s. The Christ Church parish church on Church Street, the Unitarian chapel, Underbank Chapel, and the country mansion, Revell Grange, are all Grade II listed structures in the region.
