Tinsley Map

Tinsley, Sheffield, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, England, S9 1UA, United Kingdom

Tinsley is a north-eastern Sheffield suburb. The Lord of the Manor of Tinsley was obligated by tradition to take a pair of white gloves to the Lord of Tickhill each year at Michaelmas in exchange for a white dove to keep over winter. Companies such as George Cohen, the ‘600 Works,’ BOC, Osbourn Hadfield, and Brinsworth Strip Mills occupied the terrain between Tinsley and the neighbouring hamlet of Templeborough, Rotherham. Only the BOC facility and the Brinsworth Strip Mills are still located within the village limits. Tinsley Recreation Ground is located in the heart of Tinsley and has been used for sports since the 1890s. Tinsley Green, a community centre, has just been claimed as part of this. It includes a new 5-aside football pitch, a tennis court, a children’s playground, adult rides, and a cricket bowling practice area.
